FAQs
What should I expect? What time should I arrive at the theater?
MAINSTAGE & PLAYHOUSE+ SHOWS: Doors to the theater do not open until 6:00pm (1:00pm for matinees). You should arrive between 6:00pm & 6:15pm for evening performances. That will give you ample time to enjoy your meal. The show begins at 7:45 PM. For matinees, arrival time is between 1:00pm & 1:15pm. The show begins at 2:45 PM. We invite our guests to dinner in the order in which they arrived.
THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES (TYA): Doors to the theater open at 10:15 am. Concessions are available for purchase from 10:15 am – 10:45 am. A meal is NOT included or offered for this production. The show will begin at 11:00 am and usually runs about an hour. Outside food and beverage is not allowed.
Where is the theater located?
The building that houses the theater is located approximately one block north of the square in Hagerstown. The theater entrance, as well as ample parking, is situated in the REAR of the building behind City Hall and M&T Bank. Directions.
Where do I pick up my tickets?
Please print your tickets at home and bring them to the theater (or present them to us on your mobile device) on the night/day of your selected performance. Before the show begins, your server will deliver your beverage check and you pay that bill at intermission. Please remember that your actor/server works primarily for gratuities and that your tip should be based on a percentage of the full cost of your evening/afternoon (tickets plus bar tab).
How should I dress?
Our dress code is informal. Business casual is appropriate. You may wish to bring a sweater or jacket, as the theater is kept at a cool temperature for everyone’s comfort.
Do you allow children?
We believe it is great to introduce children to (age and content appropriate) live entertainment! However, we have found that age 5 is a minimum age for our Mainstage productions and that age 3 is a minimum age for Theater For Young Audiences productions. Younger than that and they may get restless, making your evening less enjoyable than we’d like.
What if the show is canceled due to weather?
When cancellations due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances occur, we will attempt to contact everyone who holds a ticket to that performance. While we will always make the effort to err on the side of caution when cancelling, our performers and staff travel to The Playhouse from throughout the Four-State Region. Therefore, if the show is held and you choose not to attend, there are no cancellations, refunds or exchanges. If the performance is cancelled, you may attend a future performance of your choice (subject to availability). No refunds will be issued.
How soon should I get tickets?
Please order online or call as soon as you know when you would like to come. Our shows run for about 6 weeks and can sell out very quickly!
Which seats are better?
Everyone has an opinion about where the best seats are in the theater. Ours is a thrust stage with seating on three sides. Be assured, the venue is an intimate one and that wherever you are seated, you will enjoy the show!
What is a Season Pass?
A Season Pass allows you to purchase admission to each of the shows in the coming season at discounted rates.
What if I want to cancel my tickets?
For Single Admission Tickets there are no cancellations, refunds or exchanges. Season Passholders may cancel up to 48 hours in advance of their scheduled performance. Season Passholders that cancel after that time will have their “tickets punched” as if they had attended and that admission will be forfeited.
Do you have a Social Story for your theater?
Yes, we do! Here is the Social Story for our theater. A social story for our TYA productions is coming soon. What is a social story?
