Broadway’s greatest thriller DEATHTRAP, peppered with humor, opens at The Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theater and Children’s Theater on January 15th and runs on Fridays and Saturdays through February 20th. There is one matinee on Sunday January 24th.
The play, written by Ira Levin (Rosemary’s Baby, Veronica’s Room) features a cast of popular regional actors: Diana Abrecht, Allison Banzhoff, Shawn R. Martin, Steve Steele and Jeff Wine.
Sidney Bruhl, a successful writer of Broadway thrillers, is struggling to overcome a “dry” spell which has resulted in a string of failures and a shortage of funds. He receives a script from a student in the seminar he has been conducting at a nearby college—a thriller which Sidney recognizes immediately as a potential Broadway hit. Sidney’s plan is to offer collaboration to the student, an idea which the younger man quickly accepts. Suspense mounts steadily as the plot begins to twist and turn with devilish cleverness, and with such an abundance of thrills and laughter, that audiences will be held enthralled until the final, startling moments of the play.
“The intricately fashioned plot contortions brought gasps, the comedy lines drew delighted chortles…” – The Hollywood Reporter
